We'll see how temporary he is. We are sitting a cat for a relative who has to go out of the state to work for 2-3 months. He had no one else to take him so here we are!

Need to put him on a serious diet as it appears he weighs near 30 lbs!

Needless to say poor Jingles, who we thought was a fair size cat at 12 lb....not an ounce of fat.... long & lean with long tail & legs, and Tango have not made friends yet. So I play musical cats. Jingles is outside most of the day so Tango can run the house (well, ALMOST... WeeBee tries to be in charge) and when Jingles comes in I separate them as they still hiss & growl. Tango seems to start it and I think Jingles can clearly see he would be up against a Sumo Wrestler. At night I put Tango in a room & Jingles runs the house....

I thought the newcomer would be the shy one but he seems comfortable here. Has found a few favorite spots & is very loving and sociable. Explores more each day.

They are both males near the same age & neutered. I hope this works out easily as I don't want either to feel out of place. They both are adaptable about being closed off and smell under the doors with some growing or hissing, again, started by Tango. Then they will check out the others' smell when it is their turn to be out of their own room. Should prove interesting as we have another cat moving to our "compound" within the week.

Hope this link works...... All of us cat lovers can relate but I bet Margi in particular since her latest addition is so new.

OK, guess you'll have to copy paste it or type it out.... sorry. All cat people will relate to this. Cute!

Angel Flossie.....

Today the sun is finally shining so bright that I am sure it must be because of a special request by you to cheer me up.

Since we "assigned" Jingles your birthday he is 2 today. So I let him go outside for a while to feel the sun. We still have lots of snow but today's sun should help.

You are still in my heart every single day and am so grateful you were part of my life for so long. Your spirit and courage will never be forgotten.

I still miss you so very much and hope you are being a good girl. Picture of you with your bunny toy..... It is still with you as I have it near your ashes.

Love Always, Mom

A heartwarming story someone sent to me.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

Love,
God

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds
With no thought of the dog filling their heads.

And mum in her kerchief, and dad in his cap,
Knew he was cold but didn't care about that.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Figuring he was free of his chain and into the trash.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.

When what, to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus - and his eyes full of tears.

He unchained the dog once so lively and quick,
Last year's Christmas present, now painfully thin and sick.

More rapid than eagles he called the dogs name.
And the dog ran to him, despite all his pain.

"Now DASHER!
Now DANCER!
Now PRANCER and VIXEN!!
On COMET!
On CUPID!
On DONER and BLITZEN!!

To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Let's find this dog a home where he's loved by all."

I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear...

The gift of a dog is not just for a season.
We had got the poor pup for all the wrong reasons.

In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing that we missed.

A dog should be family and cared for the same.
You don't give a gift then put it on a chain.

And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
"You weren't given a gift! You were given a life!"
