RIP my friend until we meet again
My life is forever changed thanks to you
Both battered and broken we bonded & together we grew
They told me to let you go said you were not worth it
What little they knew
I knew from the start you had a heart of gold
You were intelligent, loving, proud, and bold
You were a little of Curious George, Dennis the Menace, and Eeyore all wrapped into one
You always pushed me to perfection and together we achieved things so many said we never would
They said we would never make the show
What did they all know
We entered with grace and elegance
Two bonded in spirit as one
We always made a stance, moving in grace across the ring as if it was a dance
All we needed was a chance
I believed in you, and you believed in me
In that we were always able to achieve
Ribbons and trophies line the wall
But that is not what it was about, at all
It was about true friendship bonded to overcome all things
The very thing they all said we could not do
We showed them between the two
We inspired each other encourage each other and grew
Into a team that always won the blue

You took me down the steep winding trails bold and brave
You led me through life the same way
So as I sit here today
Wiping the tear from my face
I can find comfort knowing I will see you again someday
I wont lie as I sit and cry
I will miss your sweet scent, the sound of you munching grass
your knickers and kisses I surely will miss
Most of all I will miss our naps lying the pasture
That made nothing else matter
I will cherish the time we had and miss you ever day
I wont say good bye it only makes me cry
So until the next time we meet again
When I am done here I can look forward to you waiting at the gate again
RIP my dear dear friend
To all who met you loved you
To all who met you learned from you
I miss you Treasured Dash AKA Boss

Oh Dash's mom

What a beautiful poem for your beloved horse, Dash. My heart is sorrowing for you in your first days of living without Beautiful Dash's physical body near you. Dash is still there - but as a loving spirit. He walks at your side, he naps in the sunshine with you, he watches over you, he guides your steps, and - most of all - he loves you. Our human grief comes from not being able to sense these things any more - for a while. You and Dash are soul-mates, he is your spirit animal, in the tradition of my people{ the White Buffalo). Mr dash searched the universe over until he found the one and only being - you - who carries a piece of his soul. Then he put himself in your path so you would meet him andyou, too, would know that he was THE ONE who carried a part of his soul. The Creator of the Universe made animals' lives much shorted than human lives. That means each of us who has truly loved and been loved by a soul-mate animal must show that love by setting him free and accepting all the pain that goes with that decision. That is the supreme act of love and Precious Dash know its. He is living in wht ai have come to call the Perfect World. And because he is a spirit, he can also be always at your side. You WILL be reunited with Dash - and when that happens you will always be riding free, with his mane and your hair blowing in the wind and showing the universe what a human-horse love is meant to me.

You are at the right place, Dash's mom. At lightnign strike no one will ever criticize you or tell you you "should" or "shouldn't" feel or do anything. Your and Dash's love is unique. So is your grief. And we are here to care and support you - to care and support each other as we live in the memory of our spirit animals and await our glorious eternal reunion. Please keep your LS brothers and sisters with you as you walk your grief journey. All of us have done that or are doing it now. In truth, I think it never stops until that "great gettin' up morning."

In peace, gentleness and blessings,

Gretta and Rufus's mom

Thank you for such a beautiful post, and amazing how you knew about Treasured Dash and me. You are correct he found me and he picked me. 16 1/2 years ago many tried to buy him and he refused to let them. He would watch me, whinny to me until he got me. He was stolen from me and I got him back, and while he was away I heard him and felt all of his emotions, people thought I lost my my mind. When I rode or was around him we communicated with no words, we just knew. I rode with very little motion because he knew.
I trusted Treasured Dash AKA Boss with my life, and he protected me more than once, and saved my life as well. I always took a piece of my hair and braided it into his mane where it stayed always. The day I had to let him go I cut a piece of my hair and braided it in his mane so we will always be connected.
I had to decide to let him go because he was in way to much pain and there was nothing more I could do. On that day he knew and that morning I had to walk him where he would be set free, and he knew. If he was not ready he would have never ever let me walk him over to that spot where the vet waited.
Our souls are bonded and I know I will see him again, he was my one and only true best friend. he loved me unconditionally, and he taught me many valuable lessons that have and will help me go through life. I also have a lot of guilt that through these years I have let him down, broken promises that were out of my control. But he always knew how much I respected and loved him. I miss him so very much.
I miss him deeply and it hurts very bad and I have not yet grieved or talked about it, no one else I know cares.

Dear Dash's (AKA Boss') Mom,

Thank you for sharing so much love for Dash with us here. He is a wonderful companion and is truly in Heaven right now, waiting for you. This will be the most difficult of journeys for you, but you are never alone.

And neither is Dash. Trevor and his brothers and cousins and friends have already met, greeted and "oriented" Dash to the wonders of the after life. They will be his companions forever, even after you and Dash are together again. (Trevor is my Cocker Spaniel as are all his brothers. They have been in Heaven for awhile now and I still miss them so very much.)

Will write again and send lots of love to you and Dash. wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

I LOVE YOU, DASH!!

Thank you so very much you post meant a lot. I know my other buddies are with him as well. I lost my Jager he was my dog my best friend every and he passed away 2 years ago from cancer. I still miss him so very very much as well. My dogs and my horse was all I had so to lose them I not only lost my best friends I lost family. I do have a doggie now he is two and he is by my side every second, but it doesn't replace the loss of my other friends.
Hugs

Hello Dash's mom,

How are you doing today? I know each and every day brings new challenges as we travel along this journey of loss and hope. Thank you for telling us about Jager. He must have been such a good friend and companion, too. You know, one companion never replaces another. Each has their own way of capturing our hearts and loving us unconditionally for their whole lives. And we do the same, in our limited human way.

I hope your current doggie is bringing you some measure of comfort during this most difficult period. Rest peacefully, knowing that Dash is among the most brilliant horses that ever graced this earth and that, he, along with all of his earthly companions, is celebrating the love you two shared!

I LOVE YOU, DASH!

Dear Dash and Jaeger's mom

How priveleged you are to have such a beautiful horse and wnoderfful dog both choose you as their soul mate - the one who held the piece of their soul they sent on before them when they entered the earthly world. They searched the whole univers over until they found the one and only one who held their heart-piece. and you know what thoses pieces were? They were exactly the pieces of YOUR heart that were missing! For a long beautiful while, all of your puzzles were complete - and that's what makes for such an incredible union you have with both Dash and Jaeger. Whoever made this world decided to make our spirit-animals' lives much shorter than ours. So we, the humans, are called upon to pass the ultimate test of love - to set them free from pain and sickness - at a lifelong cost ot ourselves. But they each leave a piece of their hearts for us to hold and they take a piece of ours with them. I think that's why the ache never goes away - it ebbs but it is always there.

Not everyone who has an animal in their family has a spirit-animal with them. But those of us who HAVE had those heavenly animals find us are a special, blessed group. As soon as someone in that group begins to speak of their furbaby, it's obvious who is living with their soul-mate animal. And you are a charter member. Now all of us are learning how to love with the biggest heartache there is in our hearts.

You, Dash and Daeger are in the top group of people and animals I'm thankful for on this day-before the day set aside to give thanks for the blessings in our lives.

Be well, my friends. We love you.

Gretta and Rufus's mom
