Hi Rufus

It's your mom. Yup, your forever mom. You know, the one who makes you go on all those walks. The one who turns her back on you whe she first comes home so you won't get excited and bark. (It's not because I'm not as glad to see you as you are to see me. It's because people are so goofy and some of them don't like dog's barking in a four-plex.) It's the one who loves your soft fur and your big Newfie ears and your big Newfie paws. It the mom who misses you so badly now that I'm away for a while helping your aunt Bobbie. The mom who's so happy you have the best dog bed there is for your neuro conditions. The mom who won't let you have any fun (chasing rabbits into people's yards) when we go on walks. The mom who promised you you weren't a "replacement dog", that you were loved for yourself and yourself alone. The mom who promised she'd never abandon you. And I'm renewing that pledge, baby Rufus. I'm coming home as soon as I can and coming to get you as soon as I can after that. I miss your big black nose and huffing puffing when I open the door. I miss your flopping on the floor when we get home from walks - just to cool off. I even miss your "nosing' me without mercy when you know I'm typing something sad. YOu're psychic I know, because soemtimes I don't make ANY ANY noise, no nose snuffling, no moaning, NOTHING, and yet you wake out of a sound sleep, put your head up, slowly get up (it's hard with all the neuro going on) and wander the 10 feet over to the computer and nose me to get up and away from that thing that's making me sad. And I know - even though you try to disguise it - that it DOESN"T always mean you want to go for a walk. Sometimes we've just come BACK from a walk. You're my new heart, Rufus. I love you without doubt and without measure.

Your forever mom (with the sometimes erring mind).

Hi, Gretta's Mom, just adding my sincerest best wishes on your decision to rejoin your precious Rufus when you get home. I know your precious Rufus can feel your love him across the miles, and I know he is anxiously awaiting a grand reunion when he sees you. And make no mistake - - your beloved Gretta is so very happy for you that Rufus is sharing your earthly journey.

May your travels be safe and uneventful, Gretta's Mom. Please know you and your precious Rufus are in my thoughts and prayers, and look forward to knowing how you both are doing.

Peace and blessings,

Thank you Tom's dad and Moonbeam. Sometimes the mind plays tricks on the heart. You two asked me the really important questions and I wanted to share my answers not only with Rufus but with you, my dear friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi Gretta's (and Rufus's) Mom,

I just felt moved to express my respect for you, for your decision to keep Rufus as your boy.

It is one thing to care for an animal you have had for a long time when they get sick. It takes love and dedication on yet another plane to take on the responsibility of one who comes to you with challenges when you first meet them. I don't have words sufficient to describe how much I admire you for that.

Peace,
Chris

Hi Rufus

It's mom again. Could you send a message on up to the world above and get your sister Gretta to round up all her cousins, expecially the new one, Mr Trevor Forever, and all of you send down your strongest good thoughts and comfort to Trevor's mom, your aunt Bobbie. She really needs a strong, clear message from all of y guys. Ya'll know why.

Thanks guys.

P.S. Rufie, I'm coming to get you on SUnday morning - that's two days from now. Gotta take away all your fun and take you (and me) back to our urban life. I promise to take you to a dog park during the week and ask Siphie's mom across the street is you guys can play together in their back yard. XOXOXOXOXO

Hi Roofie!

This is Aunt Bobbie. You have an incredible real mom, you know. She has been helping me learn to live with Trevor being with your sister, Gretta, and all his borthers (Adam, Crocker, Birney, Kelly, Jasper and Rudy). I'm not learning very fast, or very well. My head is kind of thick and my heart is waaaaay to broken right now to understand much of anything.
Even though your late cousin Rudy tried to explain this all to Gretta a couple years ago, I didn't get it at all.
So, I thank you and love you for your efforts! Keep them up because your Aunt Bobbie needs yuur help!

Enjoy having your mom back and please know that she missed you the whole time you guys were apart and talked about you all the time. She really, really love you, big guy!

Me too!
XO Aunt Bobbie XO

PS: would you mind, also telling her to LOG OUT when she's done on this site? THANKS! smile.gif

Hi, Gretta's mom, just being able to get caught up with your news. Hopefully by now you and your precious Rufus are enjoying a happy reunion and getting reacquainted with YOUR routines. Sounds like you have a plan to help him establish a "social network" of his own friends. That is so o o o oo cool. I will look forward to sharing your news as to how many ladies' hearts he wriggles his way into, and how he likes "hanging out with the guys."

I hope your travels home were safe and uneventful, and I hope today is being kind to you and your precious Rufus. Please know you both are in my thoughts and prayers, and look forward to knowing how you both are doing.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam

Hello all

Rufus is back with his forever mom (that'd be me). To make his life a little bit better, I have started jogging on our 50 blocks a day (not a pretty sight and we usually only make about 30+ blocks and mom walks the rest). I used to jog with Gretta for about the first 2.5 years she was with me but then she started getting shoulder and spine issues so we walked... and then walked less ... and less... and, well, you know the rest.

RIP Gretta. Welcome home, Rufus.
