This is such a difficult subject, but the fact is there ARE people who come here who've had less than acceptable experiences with their veterinarian(s), sometimes, very sadly and alarmingly, to the point where they (or their staff) actually cause the demise of their beloved animal friends.

I often don't really know what to say to those who've suffered such a terrible betrayal of trust because I don't wish to add to their already guilt-laden thoughts during their grief by agreeing that their choice of vet &/or clinic may not have been the wisest. I've learned myself, through hard (bad) experience, observation and much animal healthcare learning, that I'd much rather place my trust in holistic vets over most regular ones but I also realize that most people don't go that route, or, equally distressingly, they've been forced to use emergency clinics where they didn't have a choice in the vet on duty. (this isn't to say there aren't some great regular vets out there as well)

And yet, these scenarios happen time and again and unfortunately appear to be getting even more prevalent. So with these concerns in mind, I found some links to sites that offer various resources for those who truly feel they need help in either ascertaining or reporting/fighting cases of malpractice or deficient care in the handling &/or diagnosis of their animals. It's a terrible commentary on today's animal health care standards that we should even need such resources, but if these resources help even a few to either avoid such grievous errors or bad vets, or help bring justice to such tragedy, it will be worth the effort to post them here.

If you are worried or suspicious at all about the care your fur-child is receiving/not receiving, it is YOUR responsibility to seek out other options or otherwise do your own research to find out if your fears are indeed warranted. It may just save your animal's life. Please don't just cover your ears, eyes and gut feelings up and do or say nothing. If it's too late for you and your beloved one, please share your experience(s) with other victims and associated groups. It's the only way this kind of thing will ever be stopped.

And if you are one of those poor pet parents so affected.....my heart goes out to you in more ways than you could know. sad.gif
