Hi Kel, how did Lancelot's treatment go today? I hope he is well. I had it marked on my calendar and was thinking of you.

DannysMom, thank you for thinking of us! The oncologist had to reschedule Lancelot's appointment to tomorrow. Which makes me extra anxious, as October 31 is the day things go wrong for kitties in our house, and October 30 is close to that... I'll pop in and update folks tomorrow after his appt.

Hi, Kel, keeping your precious Lancelot and you in my thoughts and prayers that his check up and treatment today will go smoothly. I soooo understand how you feel about this time of year and the history accumulated over time with your companions, and the apprehension it brings. Please let us know how things go, my friend.

Peace and blessings,

Danny's Mom & moon_beam - again, thank you for your thoughts of us today. Lancelot's week 51 appointment went wonderfully. It wasn't with our usual oncologist, which was disappointing (but expected), but it was fine nonetheless. His weight was down a tiny bit from last time, but since we've been weighing him at home, we knew it dropped the week after he got a new med (mitoxatrone). It's been stable since that week. So, his bloodwork was fine, his exam was fine and he was as feisty as ever - he made fast friends with the oncologist he hadn't met before. (And by made friends, I'm pretty sure I mean 'tried to murder.' Oh, Lance.)

We're home with Lance now, and he's currently begging for lunch. Just hoping to make it through tomorrow without any disasters, really. (And it's my husband's birthday, on top of it!)

Next appointment is November 25, which might be his last appointment if his ultrasound is ok. Let's hope...

Hi, Kel, thank you ever so much for sharing with us your WONDERFUL NEWS about how your precious Lancelot, and you, are doing. I am so chuckling about your description of your precious boy making "fast friends with the oncologist he hadn't met before. (And by made friends, I'm pretty sure I mean 'tried to murder.' Oh, Lance.)" - - This reminds me so much of my beloved number one kitty son Eli!!! Please know your precious Lancelot, and you and your husband, continue in my thoughts and prayers that his next check up will bring each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope today is treating your precious Lancelot, you, your husband, and all of your companions and family kindly, Kel - - that today will be one entirely of CELEBRATION in your home. Please know your precious boy, and you and your husband, are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I look forward to knowing how each of you are doing.

Great news today! Moon_beam and Danny's mom, thank you for all of your good thoughts and prayers. Lancelot had his ultrasound today and it was completely normal! We are BEYOND thrilled here!

So, his ultrasound is normal, his weight is stable at 13.3 lbs, after dropping to a low of 13 on our home scale, his chemistries are good and his blood counts are also good. So, Lancelot remains in remission at the end of his chemo protocol. His oncologist, my husband and I all discussed the plan at length. We're going to follow up at 6 week intervals, with the next appointment being January 6. We don't know if we're doing chemo then; I think we're going to play it by ear. We're wondering if his slight weight loss might be because some cats on chronic chemo lose weight, so if all is well I'm inclined to stop chemo and continue with 6 week follow-ups. I would much rather take him every 6 weeks with no chemo and have a chance of catching something early. With his FeLV (in the bone marrow only), I also like the idea of watching his blood count closely.

We've got a lot to be thankful for, this year. It's hard for me to believe Lance is still with us, after we lost Pippin so quickly to something that SHOULD have been treatable, and Lance's diagnosis was theoretically a death sentence. Just goes to show that you never know.

One thing that's helped me through all this, though - I like to think Pippin's been by our side, and Lance's in particular, holding his paw this whole time.

Also, I've created Lancelot's own facebook page if anyone wants to follow his antics more closely. It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/LancelotTheCat.

Thank you, again, so so much for all of your kind thoughts. This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for good friends both near and far who've helped us through this.

Kel, this is really GREAT news! I know you must be so relieved and so happy! Lancelot has come such a long way, and what a brave kitty boy he has been through all of this. I LOVE his facebook page. Thanks for sharing that. I especially like that picture of him sitting in the window and there's snow outside. We hardly ever get snow here. Lance sure is a handsome kitty boy. You probably hugged him extra tight today after the good news.

Hello Kel.

Been a while since I posted here, but wanted to express my joy about Lancelot's continued success in his health issues. I do under stand the "could of, should of" you are feeling in relation to him and your precious Pippin. I feel similar about catching Tang's diabetes early where I was not so fortunate with Sir Thomas. I also have gone to the FB page and gave it a "like" so I can follow Lancelot's antics happy.gif

Hi, Kel, thank you so so so very much for sharing your wonderful news with us that your precious Lancelot continues to do so well. I agree with you about the more frequent check ups without the chemo. I know your heart is soaring with your precious Lancelot's remission, and I firmly believe that your beloved Pippin has been, and will continue to, watch over your precious Lancelot.

I think my favorite picture of your precious Lancelot is him stretched out on the sofa belly up - - a true testimony that he is in his domain feeling safe and loved.

I know this Thanksgiving will be a happy one for you, your husband, your precious Lancelot and all your family blessed with your beloved Pippin's sweet Living Spirit. Please know you, your precious Lancelot, and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I will continue to look forward to sharing your news as to how your precious Lancelot, and you, are doing.

Peace and blessings,

Moon_beam, I can't believe it's taken me so long to reply to this - I must have missed it somehow. I'm so sorry! Lancelot continues to do wonderfully. His last appointment was fine, his next is 3/24. We're doing every 6 week follow ups right now, no chemo. He is happy, playful and enjoying wrestling with our new family member. smile.gif We miss Strider so much, but having our new buddy Loki has been fun.

So glad your sweet, blue-eyed boy is doing so well! smile.gif Hope he's got a lot of years left. I always chuckle when you talk about how feisty he gets at the vet. He just looks so sweet and innocent, like he couldn't hurt a fly.

I'm just checking in quickly to let folks know that Lancelot continues to do well. He remains in remission, and we could not be happier. There is some other kitty drama happening in our life, of course, but all is generally well.

Sending love to everyone here - I'm sorry to continue to be so absent.

Hi, Kel, thank you so much for sharing with us your excellent news that your precious Lancelot is continuing do well in remission. I have been wondering how things are going with him. I presume he continues to have periodic follow up check ups with his oncologist. Is it still every 6 weeks or are they spaced out further now?

While I am ever so happy to know that your precious Lancelot is doing well, I am sorry there is another furchild in your family who is having challenges. Perhaps sometime you may feel up to sharing with us what is happening.

As always, my friend, I hope today, and every day, is treating you, your precious Lancelot, your husband, and all your family kindly, Kel. Please know you, your precious Lancelot, and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I look forward to sharing your news as to how your precious Lancelot, you, and all your precious companions are doing.

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to update you with how things are with Lancelot and our other kitties!

Firstly, Sir Lancelot. He is doing amazingly. Lance is still in remission, and November 6 was the two-year anniversary of his diagnosis. I still can't get over how well he is. He has been off of chemo for a year now, and we continue with 6-8 week follow ups. We had some bumps in the road this summer with a nasal issue that we thought might be lymphoma rearing its ugly head, but it turns out that he had a cryptococcus infection! The wonderful internal medicine vet who originally diagnosed his lymphoma on a hunch saw him and did a head CT & nasal biopsy to figure it out, after we struggled with sniffles for a month, trying to treat with antibiotics, lysine and finally an anti-viral. Turns it it was a fungus. He is on fluconazole for that, and he is tolerating it quite well after the first month where he had some poor appetite from it. The fluconazole will be a long-term treatment. His crypto titers are dropping (which is good) but not completely clear. We will see her in mid-January for a follow up. His next oncology follow up is December 2!

We have adopted a new family member. My mom sold her house and couldn't bring her indoor-outdoor cat, Stewie, with her to her new apartment. He was living completely outside this summer, so I brought him home with me. This means our herd is up to 6. (Eep.) Integrating him has been a challenge, as we also did some renovations on the house in October. They've been done for two weeks now and we're working on some strategies to continue integrating the cats. We are starting Stewie on fluoxetine (like we did for Lance, when he was having trouble adjusting and feeling scared and anxious), so hopefully that will help.

Loki is quite the character. He's started sleeping with us at night. His heart was a little worse at his ultrasound in August, so we have another one December 20 to see how it's progressing. He's only 2.5, so I am truly hoping it stabilizes. I refuse to worry about it now, though - doesn't change a thing.

Earl Grey is doing very well. No issues to speak of!

Karma is well. His limp is sometimes a bit more pronounced, but he is very functional. He saw a surgeon last spring, who said it isn't worth operating when he's this functional. He also had a follow up heart ultrasound in August. No changes, follow up in a year! His 6 month exam at the primary vet was yesterday, and minus an ear infection, all is well. Ear drops for Karma, and a plan to try to get him to lose some weight before he has some dental work are in the works.

Miss Willow is wonderful. Her knee ended up healing on its own, after we met with a fantastic surgeon who does actually operate on cat knees (many don't). She also got a heart and kidney ultrasound - heart was because someone thought they heard a murmur, but her ultrasound was normal. Kidneys were checked because her creatinine is a little elevated, but those are also normal, and her urine culture was negative. So for now, we feed a renal diet and watch her closely. She is extremely playful and happy right now.

So.. all is mostly well here. Just trying to get everyone integrated, and we're not quite there yet. I have some 'catification' to do - putting up some shelves to increase vertical space in our house, and I've started putting out bird feeders, which seem to keep them occupied nicely during the day. It's a start!

Hope everyone is hanging in there, here.

Hi, Kel, thank you so very, very much for sharing with us how you and your precious fur tribe are doing. So very thrilled that your precious Lancelot is doing well. I know how much this means to you - - you are now feeling like you can actually breathe again. And am also so very glad all your precious companions are doing well - - which is a tribute to your attentive, devoted loving care. Congratulations on your newest family member Stewie. I'm sure your mom is thankful that you took him into your heart and home. Eventually everyone will adjust to him being there - - it's a matter of the "circle" defining the right heirachy.

As always, I hope today is treating you, your precious companions, and all your family kindly, Kel, and that the upcoming holidays will be filled with much celebration. Please know you and all your companions are in my thoughts and prayers, and please let us know how things are going for them whenever possible.

Peace and blessings,
