Hi everyone, back to the animal rescue site(www.animal rescue site.com). they are taking votes for the best animal shelter. I'm sure everyone here is familar with one in your own hometown. My hometown shelter is in the process of building a new one. Very exciting and expensive. The shelter with the most votes gets a cash grant. I would love your help in voting for my shelter with me. Of course you can vote for yours too. Please check it out. In the purple box that reads: Search and vote for a shelter,
Shelter name:(mine is) Cape Ann Animal Aid,/Country:USA/State: MA/City:Gloucester... Thank you for taking the time and don't forget to click for free food.. Peace and healing to all..Ann |

Good idea to post this, Ann. Is your local shelter going to be a no-kill one?
There's also a new shelter that's supposed to get built here, too, but even though they're using the banner of "no-kill", those of us more 'in the know' know it won't REALLY be one, as these people don't even understand the whole philosophy of "no-kill" in the first place. A report on their last meeting read........."A discussion of what a "no-kill" facility means (italics mine) for the FHS took place and this definition will form part of the Consti tution." Nothing but deceptive claptrap, designed to confuse the public, on three fronts: 1.) The definition of "no-kill" is ALREADY well-defined and forms just one PART of the entire philosophy, so is in no need of being (re)defined, and, 2.) An attempt to define its already-existing and specific definition should NEVER be dependent upon what it means "FOR" one particular facility. That suggests the present definition wouldn't SUIT every facility, which really only means someone is trying to TWIST it to fall within the confines of their own agenda....one that obviously does not meet the strict definition in the first place, and, 3.) A definition of what a facility INTENDS to base its practices on AND its attendant philosophy, mission statement and Constitution should be the FIRST thing that's formed, before any further plans even take place.......NOT the other way around. Whereas, this new society has been focusing on fund raising first, before they even have either a mission statement OR philosophy/Consti tution in place. It's totally backwards! Therefore, I'm INSTEAD voting for (in our area) Pound Rescue , an already-established and TRUE "No-Kill" shelter AND sanctuary, and a much smaller, though far more dedicated organization that has proved its value and worth for the animals, 'pound for pound,' for about 15+ years already. This is one of the real "no-kill" shelters this new local society/shelter is trying to drum out of existence.....just because its founder has always been unfailingly outspoken about ALL forms of animal abuse, and these rural folks and "old guard" don't like it/her for it. So, if anyone feels so moved as to support a TRUE champion for animals' lives, please also consider clicking for Pound Rescue. -------------------- "I dropped a tear in the ocean.
