Hi! It's been a while since I was here. I've been so busy and Jasper has been doing fine. He and Frankee are still inseprable until now.

Nickels was half siamese but broke all the emotional rolls of the breed. He was self assured and had no problem with strangers to say the least.

For the past two weeks we have been doing a major remodel to our Condo so that we can get it on the market. Jasper is NOT stranger friendly and will hide everyday. After the first day he through a hissy fit when he came out and found out all of his things and been moved by strange men. I mean he tore through everything and this is the most upset I've ever seen a cat, MAD!! I've also figured out he must have been emotionally abused when he was an infant by a man. He doesn't like them at all. Sorry guys!

So I spent 2 hours that night at bed time talking to what a good boy he was and snuggling. He's two years old now but needs to "suckle" on my finger at night. Does anyone else's kitty do this? I don't let him all the time but he acts like a two week old kitten when he does it. I must be a site because he is about 15 pounds, has my finger in his mouth wrapped in a wash cloth and protection for his "kneading" claws. His eyes closed, and purring to beat the band.

I'm losing sleep! He hides all day in a pre-prepared "safe place" and won't come out until night time. Today was the worst. We had to move a dresser that took 3 men an hour. Didn't think we'd ever get it down the stairs! I let things calm down after the electrician left then bribed Jasper out with his favorite meal of albacore, and eggyolk. He's acting fine now but we have about another week of this then... we... move. We're moving out to a beautiful lake in a place we bought last summer that is totally stripped. We have built a cat room that looks over the lake but other than that, there is NOTHING in the building so we will be starting over with tons of new people coming in and out. I'm DREADING the stress that this will put on Jasper and don't know how he will make it!

I'm going to first make a hiding place for him with my t shirts in it. Spend a couple of days without people telling him about "HIS" new place. Let he and Frankee have the run of the house exploring it together.

I'm just finding out how emotional the siamese breed can be! I'm drained! He is still Frankee's best buddy but where Frank is in the middle of the action, Jasper hides all day.

Someone PLEASE tell me I'm a good kitty Mom and I'll take any suggestions from my old friends that I can get!

I'm including a picture of the view from the cat room. Hope it loads properly!

You can see my old posts on the new beginnings first page at the bottom called "Big Boy Jasper".

Congratulations on all your new adoptions!

This happened close to my home. I told my Husband, there wouldn't be a chance of one being adopted. I would have kept the all!

Finally got the battery for my camera yesterday!! Hope I'm not tiring anyone with new pics but I'm such a proud "Parent".

It's ENERGY CENTRAL around here! The Boys are OUT OF CONTROL!! I wouldn't have it any other way.

The first picture shows where the fur is growing back after Jaspers big surgery. The other ones are of the male bonding going on around here amoungst the remodeling.

Does anyone else have kittens that "suckle" on your fingers? Jasper wakes me up at 4:30 a.m. to do this. One morning Frankee thought, "Well, since Mom and Jasper are awake, I'm going to distract him by knocking things off the shelf!" After Frankee knocked several things off to get Jaspers attention, he finally gave up. Jasper would not stop "suckling" (and madly kneeding) on my fingers. Is cat slobber good for the skin?

Another new Jasper story. I hypmotism him by saying "I LOVE You" over and over. His eyes close, then they barely open, and his head falls back as he purrs and purrs. It's really quite funny as he is sitting up and looking quite goofy!

I've been Blessed to have 2 veternarians in my life that go beyond the call of duty. They truly LOVE their patients and fur parents. The first is Dr. Trish at the Cat Hospital in Henderson Nevada. She actually cried when I showed up with Nickels for his "Well Baby exam". She was suffering from the flu and Nickels looked up at her with those big beautiful blue eyes, then licked her hand and looked back up again. She burst into tears and exclaimed, "He knows I don't feel good!" I've never seen a vet that loves her patients more than beautiful, Dr. Trish.

The other vet is Dr. William Cody, here in Tulsa. Though we have only been seeing him for the past year, he is AMAZING! We lost our business last year, and about the same time, God sent us Frankee. We were as broke as broke could be. Dr. Cody took only 2 visits to solve what would take other vets months to solve. He saved Frankee's ear and tail from a most probable amputation. Dr. Cody went beyond the call of duty and worked with us on payments, never once, skimping on his care of Frankee. Just last week, after he gave us a top notch recommendation, for the adoption of Jasper, (who would do that knowing your business failed and the last they heard you were broke?) he preformed surgery on the little guy for the removal of a tumor. In my 35 years of dealing with vets, from horses to rats, have I EVER seen such precision of suturing and expertise of an incision. After 7 days, and no elizabethan collar, not the slightest swelling, or infection, Jasper is romping and rumbling with Frankee. Dr. Cody was sent from God and loves each and everyone of his patients and fur parents.

Do you have a story of a favorite vet? Please share them. Your stories might just save another animal and their parents from a tremendous heartbreak.

Yesterday Jasper was sitting in my lap and I found a lump in the middle of his thigh. It's about an inch wide. We rushed him to the vet this morning. Dr. Cody wants us to watch it for 10 days and bring him back in. If it is still there he is going to run a biopsy on it. I'm trying not to panic and luckily with all the records we have from his Foster Mom, our vet will be able to talk to the vet that did the vaccinations though our vet doesn't think it was caused by a shot. I called them today and they do remember Jasper. It's pretty deep into his thigh and if I wasn't deliberatly looking for lumps, I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

I am not ready to go back to the grief side of this board. Please keep our little guy in your prayers.

Michelle
