I went for a long drive today. The sun was bright; the day unexpectedly warm. and I figured some UVs in my eyes would help my depression, and if not, then at least, Charles couldn't see me crying. Nothing eventful happened on my drive.

But, I was met at the door by C, apologizing for breaking the little vase containing the flower arrangement the vets sent. The thing is, as nearly as I can tell, he wasn't anywhere near it when it broke, He was standing at the stove, cooking himself a hamburger, with his back turned to the opposite counter where the vase was. My husband is a slim, agile, sure-footed person......I haven't seen him break a half-dozen things in twenty-five years. Still less when his back was turned, and he wasn't even touching the object ( he keeps thinking he brushed it with a sleeve or something ). From the mess he described cleaning up. It sounds more like the little vase exploded, and spread itself all over the kitchen.

I've been so heartbroken and fragile, I've been trying to guard against magical, and wishful thinking, but I do wonder....did my Beekie do that?

Anything is possible Dayna. I can remember early last year when there was a "hiccup" going on in the forum. I also remember being very disturbed about it. We'd had a ceramic angel for years that sat inside a woven heart in our bathroom and suddenly it crashed to the floor and broke in more pieces than I could even begin to count. I definately took it as a sign from Goliath because I was very upset at the time. Perhaps indeed this was a sign from BK letting you know he's still with you. He would know just how upset you've been and all that you have been going through. Signs from him are his only way to communicate with you now. Read them as you see them.

BK is still with you Dayna. The loving bond the two of you share has never broken, though you are worlds apart. This kind of bond can neither be broken in this world nor the next. wub.gif

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers always.

Beth

I am such a believer in getting signs. So very possibly it could have been a sign for you. Some get signs in many strange ways and others i'm sure do get signs. They just don't really know they are.

Hugs to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY niece thinks it was BK saying, " Look ....I'm up on the cabinet biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif !!! " It had been quite a few years since he had been able to climb up more than a couch...not even that the last few months.

HI Bubba,

I've actually read that post...a number of times. MY apologies for having failed to tell you, before now, how much it touched me.

Hi Dayna-------- Without the thought of a possible reunion I shudder to think of how many of us Pet Parents who have such a deep bond with our departed babies would end up.Really bad stuff.
God bless your beautiful baby in heaven. We'll get there Dayna. We all gotta hang on real tight as this is a helluva painful ride till then. Those all too infrequent signs keep us from losing our minds. We are not the 'average' pet owners. If we are thought of as eccentric then fine.So be it.I'll take the love of an animal any day over 99.9% of the humans I know.

Hi, Dayna

When I read you say: I've been so heartbroken and fragile, I've been trying to guard against magical, and wishful thinking, but I do wonder....did my Beekie do that?

All I could think of to say is: MAGICAL AND WISHFUL THINKING IS OKAY! We don't have to guard ourselves against anything that can make us feel better.

Did your Beekie do that? Why not? So many things can happen in life without explanation so no one can say "No". The answer that is in our heart, the one that comforts us, is the right answer.

Hugs, peace and healing.

Yes, I agree, 100%!....and have you been as "fragile" as, say, that vase???? Maybe try not thinking of it as "magic", but more of as simply being more open. The heart doesn't deceive us if we just listen closely enough to when it whispers "yes".....

Way to GO, Beekie-boy! happy.gif I think someone special deserves a great, big THANK-YOU! wub.gif

BK.'s vet likes to say his faith is founded on his scientific education, " for instance, it would be irrational to believe that the miraculous complexity of the feline kidney was the result of a happy accident. "

I've seen miracles happen before my very eyes...indeed every day of Beekie's life was a miracle. I don't doubt his continuing miraculous presence in my life...I just don't want to take it for granted.

Of all the things I have learned since Goliath passed away, taking anything for granted exists for me no longer. BK IS and was a blessing to you in every way. You truly were blessed to have each other Dayna. He knows that and so do you. I've seen miracles and I've known sorrow. Each has shown and taught me the best and the hardest lessons of living in this world. Your precious BK IS with you and will remain so. BK beat the odds more than most. I attribute that to your tender love and care as well as the love you shared with each other. Everything you gave to him came from your heart without expectation of admiration for doing so. Your love came freely and BK returned your love likewise. He truly was a miracle in your life and because of him you recognize what matters most.

May God always bless you and yours......you are my friend and I think of you now as you struggle through these most difficult times of your life.

Please give my best to Charles and love to Birga & Amos.

Huggers,
Beth

BK,

Well my sweet boy the jury is in and I think the verdict ( with which I concur ), is that your Mom is just a little dense blink.gif . So, break all the crockery you wish, Darling... If this is our new path, then give me your paw, and we will learn to walk it. But, lead gently, because Mommy is pretty tired.

Love.
Mom

Beth,

When I reflect on what happened to you and Goliath...I'm always humbled by your kindness and support.

I begged heaven for the life of a dying kitten. Why the affirmative was poured out so abundantly on us is God's own mystery. I asked God to show a better world to my dying old cat...to put him back in my Mother's arms...to give him sweet dreams, unperturbed by my tears. Well, no, he's in my kitchen, breaking up vases...God's own mystery.

I should be ashamed to think of this as such a difficult time in my life, when so many kind people, who don't know me, have taken the trouble to comfort, and advise me. I am truly thankful for my access to that.

My Dad's old lullaby,

"Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low,
And the flickering Shadows, softly come and go.
Though the heart be weary, sad the day and long,
Still to us at twilight, comes loves old song,
Comes loves old sweet song"

Good night again my treasure.

It has a beautiful melody Toonie. If I had Dottie's talent ( hint ), I'd try to find a link to it.

The old boy is talking to us tonight...even Charles can hear it, or else there is a duck on a riding mower in the hall closet. "MMWack, vrrm, vrrm vrrm, Maaate, brrrrrrrrr. "

Wowwww......so you're having a witnessed ADC from Beekie!.....wowwww. How heartwarming!

Reminds me of how Nissa and I would be sitting on the couch in the evening after Sabin crossed, and we'd both hear him either coming down the stairs to join us (but my H never heard anything), or jumping down from the linen closet or their window seat, where he used to like snoozing, and we'd both be all goosey-necked, straining, hoping beyond hope that he'd somehow, magically returned. And then later, Nissa and I both clearly heard him clawing the carpet in the bedroom closet where their carrier was (another snooze spot for him) and I had to open the closet door so Nissa could more closely check, just to be sure....with me right beside her, hoping we'd actually be able to catch a glimpse of him in spirit form.

Closets can be so comforting....not just for our babies, but for us, too. sleep.gif

What Beekie is saying MMWack, vrrm, vrrm vrrm, Maaate, brrrrrrrrrtranslates to:

QUOTE
Even today we hear love's song of yore,
Deep in our hearts it swells forever-more.
Footsteps may falter, weary grow the way;
Still we can hear it at the close of day.
So 'til the end, when life's dim shadows fall,
Love will be found the sweetest song of all.

I would believe that the vase thing was a sign from BK also.

A co-worker of mine asked me if Felix (my cat) jumped on the bed. I thought she was asking if he used to jump on the bed. No, she meant have I felt him jump up since he died. She feels a one of her deceased kitties on her bed most nights, and even though she can't see her, she knows when the spirit is there!

I can't say that I have had this experience, but I know that it happens. Certainly BK is still around for you! I don't know if it helps helps with those bouts of sadness, but the important thing to remember is that they love us as much as we love them.
