Gretta's "little Brother" Rufus, He's having surgery Monday - pleas say a little prayer Options

Hello LS friends

Introducing (way late) RufusTheDog. He's a 100# lab-Newfie mix (I'll post a picture tonight when I have time to figure out how to do it). I adopted him from the same rescue group from whom I had adopted Gretta (the kindest chocolate lab who ever lived). When Gretta went home to the Perfect World on April 10, 2011, my arms felt so empty with no one to hug and my heart felt so empty with no one at home to love. After an aborted attempt to adopt a Chessie-Terrier mix (who turned out to be VERY aggressive), I adopted Rufus in mid-May, 2011.

I call him "Gretta's little brother" because I so feel like Gretta sent him to me. He's a boy - a big boy - about 8-9 years old now. He has some health problems, notably two bad read ACLs and two spinal stenoses that make him legs shake intermittently. AND ..... he has two huge lipomas ... one on the top of his right front shoulder (I guess a shoulder WOULD be in front - duh) and one under the right front arm-pit (which is attached to his chest wall). He's going to have both of them removed on Monday, April 23 and I'm worried. I have the best vet in the nation - trained at UPenn (studied anatomy under Barbaro-theHorse's doctor) and have every confidence in him. I know there'll be recuperation and since I've never done that before (Rufus is only my second dog), I'm concerned about that.

And I don't want my Rufie to be in pain!!

So when Monday comes, could y-all say a little prayer for Rufie, please. It would mean a lot to me.

To Gretta you are the luckiest chocolate lab in the world because you where lucky enough to find Grettas mom.

To Rufus having someone to hold you to care for you to sit by your side and walk through this journey of your life
You have found your forever home to one that see all the Beauty you have to offer and holds you high in the air
None shall pass as Whispers are spoken from the Heart You are safe my friend.

A view of another that has a kind heart a look into the other side...

I rescued a human today By Rufus....

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew i had to help.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly,so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my Kennel i blocked her view from a little accident i had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that i hadn't been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter Keepers get busy and i did not want her to think poorly of them.
As she read my kennel card i hoped that she would not feel sad about my past.
I only have a future to look forward to and want to make
A diffrence in someones life.
She Kneels before me and made a little kissing sound and my ears perk up in time..
I move close to cage as to touch your skin and say i;am yours for life....
Gentle finger tips caressed my neck; she see right through to my heart
A tear fell down her cheek and i raised my paw to assure her that all would be all right.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright i knew we would share are Eternal life
I jumped into her arms as Angels sings for the ones without words.....

Always be by your side
I would promise to do everything i could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in your eye's
I was so fortunate that you came down my corridor.

Rufus rescued a Human today.

Now for the good stuff This is a first for me My friend truly changed me;)

Ingredients for Rufus Sweet Turky Meatballs <From Comfy Belly>

1. 1 Pound of Ground Turkey
2. 1/2 cup of squash or sweet potato puree
3. 1/2 of Brown Rice (Optional)
4. 1 egg (Optional)

Preparation

1.Preheat oven to 350
2.Combine all ingredients in a bowl and Blend well
3.On a cookie sheet cover with Foil use a soup spoon to Creat
Heaping round Meatballs spaced 1/2 inch apart.
4.Bake for 15 min or until Golden brown slightly on the Top.
5. Cool and Serve. Cover and Store in the Refigerator for 4 days or so.

A Doxie tale Long and short...

Upon entering a little country store, a stranger noticed a sign on the door that read "Danger Beware of Dog"
Inside he noticed a harmless Dachshund asleep on the floor beside the cash register.



He asked the store manager, "Is this the dog folks are supposed to beware of ???
Why in the world would you post that sign....

Because the manager replied, "Before i posted that sign, People kept tripping over him.....
