Hi, this video is of my 2 cats Gus and Maurice who have been poisoned by Champion pet foods Orijen. Gus and Maurice cannot run, roll in the sun, climb their cat trees, wash themselves, play with each other and be naughty jumping on the kitchen bench. I don't know if my cats will survive or regain the use of their hind legs or further in time have a major organ failure. This is what 4 months of eating Orijen cat food for 50% of their diet, the rest fresh meat, did to them. Three cats have died of seizures, one of a spinal tumour. Fifteen have been euthanized. Dozens of cats have been affected please join our forum to see our fight.

.
Can you trust such a negligent company as Champion with your pets health, I did, like everyone else in Australia who thought they were buying the best for their cats and look what they have done to my beautiful cats. It should not matter if only 1 or 20 cats have died in Australia, they died because Champion petfoods sold their irradiated food here for profit, that does not sound like a caring holistic company to me

Thank you for any support you can show us

Hi, thanks for all your support, Gus is now into day 37 without being able to walk thanks to Orijen. He is incontinent, being hand fed and hydrated with a syringe, Maurice, thankfully has not got any worse but he was the first to get sick in December for 3 weeks and then got better for about 2 weeks and now well you have all seen him on You tube. The pain and distress this Orijen caused poisoning is inflicting on me by having to watch my sick cats is heartbreaking. My cats are everything to me,they keep me company and make me laugh as my partner works away from home on long shifts. All the vet can do is prescribe a cysteine amino acid, a Vitamin B shot and a twice weekly visit.
What my loved cats looked like before they were sick.

OMG....this is absolutely hideous! And I'm so ashamed that this is a Cdn. company! I've watched the videos and am sickened by Orijen's BS response about irradiation concerns. You've got to be totally ignorant and evil to even suggest that irradiation, esp. to THIS unbelievable extent (in Australia) wouldn't harm ANY living being!

I'm so, so sorry your darling cats have been so grossly harmed, and incredibly sorrier that you've now lost your baby, Hunter, to such gross negligence and wholly uncaring human beings' greed for profit share in the market. There's no excuse for such heinousness in the world. None!

I remember being told in a local pet supply store that Orijen was SUCH a good, new brand, but I didn't get a good 'vibe' from it. Now I know why. Thank God I didn't buy any to keep on hand for emergency stray cat situations! I'll be passing on this info. to that store and urging them to get rid of it. (pretty sure they won't listen, as just as with Orijen, money is their bottom line)

Your video on one of your cats was totally heart-breaking....oh, man.....

As always, though, I'd STRONGLY urge you to find yourself a really good and experienced homeopathic vet, even by distance (you can do phone appts. with many of them), as I'd bet my own bottom dollar that they could offer your furkids much help in overcoming this poisoning. It's a very hopeful option that I sincerely hope you'll take seriously, in order to save their lives or at the very least hugely mitigate the effects of this poisoning. Please, do it for their sakes!

Please keep in mind that this is only the Orijen that has been imported into Australia and irradiated. Orijen is Canada and the US IS safe for your cats.

Yes, but if you read/listen to the entire background, it was Champion's (parent company of the Orijen brand) reluctance to ACT on & fully divulge the information (guilt by omission), plus investigate and track (i.e. take an active interest in) the system/laws that would apply to their exported food that helped cause more animals' deaths. That does not speak to the inherent integrity of them as a company. There was a definite lack of due diligence here. When a product or company's creed is touted as "holistic", that is a deliberate and intended emphasis that should reflect the meaning of that word and it also should be reasonable to assume that all aspects of that company's business are in coherence with the picture they are trying to paint. If that coherence is not adhered to, they have, in essence, broken an implied trust/contractual obigation between them and their customers, and that is nothing but deception.

Regarding just two aspects of this, rosella already made it clear here. (all emphasis mine) "Both your importer and you knew something was wrong in September/October of 2008 when vets first spotted a link between the syndrome and Orijen cat food. It took you until almost the end of November before a recall was announced and even then many of the retailers were not given a full explanation so they could not tell their customers who were still feeding their cats from recently purchased bags." And further, "...your failure to stay fully informed of what your importer was doing at all times in signing authorities to gamma irradiate not on one shipment, as you claimed in our telephone conversaton, not on two shipments as....claimed, but on THREE SHIPMENTS..."

Therefore, it is the entire integrity of Champion that is in question here, regardless of where their food is sold. I don't like dealing with those who simply take advantage of popular buzzwords to flog their products, when in fact, there is no real demonstration of adherence to such principles. Is that good practise to put one's faith in, especially when it comes to the very lives entrusted to our care? Such a company doesn't deserve ANY market share, no matter where that market is. Once such disregard is shown and apparent, as a consumer, you basically get what you ask for through the power of your choice and where you put your money -- more of the same?, or something much better. As usual, the consumer decides which one they want in the end.
