Lost My Corgi To Degenerative Myopathy

I lost my 12 year old Welsh Corgi, Raygan, last Friday. She had degenerative myelopathy and had become paraylzed in her backlegs and recently became incontinent as a result of this terrible disease. I miss her so much and wish I could hug her one more time and tell her how much I loved her. I watched her be born and knew she'd be mine from the first breath she took (so my dog-child she was). I feel guilty for making the decision that it was time for her life to end, though I had known it was inevitable for the last year. My heart is broken and I grieve for her. I'm sure that you all understand the depth of this grief.

I must remember the quote "that it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved". I so loved Raygan and now I've lost her but I know my life was enriched by the 4000+ days she shared with me. I just wish it could have been longer...............
