The First Day of Spring Spring flowers bloom, but I do not see Trees whisper, but I do not hear The day brings distraction Arriving home, a door opens But you are not there How can I ever thank you For the joy you brought to me I can see you smiling A silly snaggletooth, warm kisses upon my cheek Carrying me through my darkest hours Always by my side Your love unwavering Each night the tears fall from my eyes A weary sun sets in the west Soft reds surrendering to the dusk and twilight The grey ceiling now my companion We would have walked today, this First Day of Spring Your tail wagging, so excited to be past the dark days of winter Both of us admiring the small green blades of grass, the bright buds on branches The birds singing songs of return And you there by my side Love is eternal And I will never forget you I wish we had just one more day together This First Day of Spring |
