hello all
I have not been on here in awhile but I wanted to let you know that I just recently had a major scare with a blood born parasite in my boy kitty Boo. Boo is normally a very rambunctious neutered male who would run arround the house irritating my other kitty. But two days ago he just didnt seem like himself. He was hanging his head and his eyes were half closed and he just looked like he was not feeling well. I watched his eating and drinking habits which he was doing but not like usual. He was using the litter box. He was urinating but he was not defacating. I freaked out thinking that he had crystals in his bladder which my other male cat Osi passed away from almost a year ago. Also boo is almost a year old . I was in a panic, I did not want to loose another male cat to this. So off to the vet he went. He ended up spending the night at the hospital. After the vet did some blood work and other tests. The diagnosis was that boo had a parasite that he contractracted from canine feces. My previous next door neighboors had three dogs and never cleaned up after thier dogs. thankfully they moved. Boo was so sick from this I was afraid that he was going to die. But I had a wonderful vet who solved the problem and Boo, was put on a course of antibiotics for the next two weeks and he is starting to return to his self. He is still a little sluggish but doing much better than he was. I am glad that I didnt delay in taking him to the vet. For if I had it could have turned into Anemia . Now Boo is on his way to becoming well. nyzki |

I am so glad to hear a happy ending to your story, though I know it scared you very much.
Boo is lucky to have such a special momma to look after his each and every need with such love. Aren't we lucky to have this kind of relationship with our furry kids? Smiles and hugs to you from me. -------------------- Topics that include Goliath are:

Hello all
I wanted to give you a update on how Boo is doing. Well. I am happy to report that he is doing so much better. He is back to being the happy, healthy kitty, that I know and love. Giving him his pill sure has been an adventure. We finally got him to swallow it but I sure hope I wont have to repeat this in the future. GEEESE never knew that giving a pill to a cat would be such an adventure ! He is continueing his antibiotics for another week and a half. I am just so glad to have him healthy and returning to his charming and loving self. He is right next to me on my computer desk. He is such an inspiration as I compose this email. Blessings from Boo & nyzki |

Absolutely wonderful news!
I never was able to give a pill. If I couldn't hide it in food...I had a problem. With my new adopted cat, I found out he really likes Pill Pockets. I got him the chicken tasting cause he likes chicken and turkey. You get them at the vets. You can look and read about them on the Internet. Well, this finicky cat of mine....he did not want to eat anything with pills in it so I first put a Pill Pocket on the floor, without a pill so he could sniff it as something new, which he did and then he ate it. Then I put a pill in one and closed it up and put it on the floor and he ate it right up, figuring it was like the first one, then to seal the deal I put a third one down, again without the pill and he ate it right up. It was wonderful. By using the Pill Pockets, he ate the pill without realizing it and I had a happy cat and a happy me. Look into it if you have to give more pills. I loved the way he took to it. He never knew he was being pilled!:P I am so glad your baby is back to being a happy cat. You really took terrific care of him and used what I always believe in...better safe than sorry...that's why I do go to the vet if I have any doubts or questions. Thank you for sharing such good tidings. Give Boo a big hug and a kiss Judy -------------------- LITTLE GUY - May 28, 1991 - Sept 10, 2007 - Always in my Heart.

Thank you judy for the suggestion of the pill pockets. Boy I could have used one of those last night. And, I have to give him another one this eve. Also thank you for your kind and thoughtful words. I am just glad that he is back to being well.
And, Iam going to look into getting some of those nifty pill pockets. Boo & nyzki |

Alley died of a blood parasite. It was a cytauxzoonosis which is transmitted by ticks from bobcats. I'm glad your kitty didn't have a fatal one like she did.
