I just wanted to post some pictures of my dog Lucy. She was "put to sleep" (hate that expression) on Friday June 11, 2010.

I miss her so much. Dear, sweet little dog. She was so precious to me.

Dear soojung,
Lucy looks precious. How old was she? She looks so happy and content in your pictures. I can only assure you that you did what was best for her--you loved her and she clearly loved you back---look at those eyes! May her beautiful memories live on in your heart.

Dear Soojung

The photos of your darling Lucy are wonderful, thankyou so much for sharing . What a beautiful little girl, you were right she has a dear little Foxy face, she looks very happy and well loved. I am so very sorry for your loss, I know you miss her like crazy. It was lovely to meet you in 'chat' and have our long talk about our Angels. Please know that I am thinking of you and sending Hugs.

Dear rachna, thank you so much for your reply. I just replied to your post about Kajoor.
Lucy was 16 years old when she passed away. Most of the pictures are from when she was 12 and 13. But the picture of her in her little dog bed and the bottom right corner picture of her sleeping were taken just this past April, when she was 16.

Dear Anna,
Thank you so much for taking the time to give Lucy her little angel-wings, it did bring a smile in my heart. I had always wanted to find some sort of wings to put on her for Halloween and take a picture, but I was never able to. Now I can see how cute she would have looked.

Thank you again, and I'll look for your posts too.

Dear janika,
Thank you so much for your kind words about lucy. I enjoyed talking w/ you in the chat-room very much. I saw your post about Pixie but can't remember if I left a comment--I apologize, I've been really fuzzy-headed from lack of sleep and from grief in general I guess. I'll check later...
thanks again so much,

Hope you are holding up ok. After 7 years was hard enough, after 16 I'd imagine it's even harder. But the amazing thing is Lucy looked happy even in her pictures from April! I'd rather our animals have good, happy lives than disabled and depressing lives. You can see Lucy's contentment...at a ripe old age of 16! I've been lazy to post more pics of Kj because I dont like looking at them quite yet, but if you find putting Lucy's pics up helpful, please post more soon smile.gif I know I'd enjoy seeing her

dear Rachna,
oh thank you, thank you so much for expressing interest in my little Lucy. As deeply grateful as I was for the replies from you, Anna, and Janika (thank you all again), I was sad that there no other replies on Lucy's thread. I knew of course that it was unreasonable to expect people to reply to a post containing only some pictures & little else, and that made me feel even worse that I wasn't even able to write a halfway decent memorial to Lucy. I'd originally wanted to write more about her, but I've always had EXTREME difficulty w/ writing and days were going by while I struggled to find the words to describe her, so I finally decided to post some pics of her in the meantime while I continued to work on the written part. Even just writing this reply has taken me forever; I'm too embarrassed to say how much time it takes me to compose even the most insignificant email (it's like I have a ridiculously overzealous mental editor that I can't turn off).

ok, sorry i've rambled on, but i'm not going to let myself go back and edit this anymore otherwise i'll be here all morning. i'd love to see Kajoor's pics someday as well, but i can totally understand your not being able to look at them yet. it's different for me w/ Lucy b/c she had severe cognitive dysfunction ("doggie alzheimers") and didn't know me anymore long before she died, so i had already lost her in a way. that's why it's been especially difficult for me to talk about what she was like, b/c i feel like i can't remember how she was when she was still healthy. i'll stop now b/c like i said, i do want to post more about her story but i'm still working on writing it at the moment.

sorry to go on so long, and thank you SO much for your kindness, it makes me feel happy that someone else thought my Lucy was cute and worth knowing about. i look forward to reading more about your Kajoor if/when you feel ready to share more about him!

take care,
soojung

Soojung,
how gut wrenching--the cognitive dysfunction must have been as devastating as her passing. How selfless of you to let her live out her last few years peacefully. Please don't think that other people not posting means they aren't reading, seeing, and feeling your pain. I am not quite sure how to respond to your wonderful post, but losing our pets is hard and takes time to accept. We seek out others who understand our pain and help each other grieve in a healthy way. For me, donating to the local rabbit rescue, and raising awareness about animals has been very therapeutic. Please consider doing something to honor Lucy's life in a way that helps you too--she was so precious!

Soojung, I had to make the same decision for my little one exactly a year ago today. No, it wasn't and still isn't easy, but our little loved ones trust us to make the hard choices for them. I could have told the vet no, let's wait a little longer, but that would only have prolonged my little girl's suffering out of selfishness. Even though it hurt, I know that letting her go so peacefully was the right choice for her.

Lucy was a beautiful little girl, and even though she in no way resembles my Bitsy, I do see the same love and adoration for you shining in Lucy's eyes that I saw in Bitsy's eyes when she looked at her "Daddy"!

Thank you for sharing her with us, and letting us share with you in your grief.

Andy

Andy, thank you so much for taking a moment to comment on my Lucy. I'm sorry for the slight delay in responding; I haven't been as active here for the past few days for some reason. I also want to extend my deep sympathy to you on your loss of Bitsy. This one-year anniversary must be a particularly difficult time for you. Still, I hope that time has helped make remembering Bitsy more of a warm & happy experience instead of a purely painful one, although I know the pang of loss will never completely fade away.
