Good morning,

First I want to thank ALL the wonderful people here who have helped me SO much in my journey. I have made some great friends here! biggrin.gif

However, I have been blasted by several emails from one person, telling me that I am the "most hateful" and "cruelest person". So, before I would risk EVER hurting any of you, I have decided to leave the LS family/forum. I have offered as much support as I knew how to all of you, and I never tried to hurt anyone either.

You will all be in my prayers
Thanks to you all!!!!

Oh dear! I just felt like I wanted to come here again with my friends and share the latest fear with Brandy.

As you know, she has chased squirrels, and caught two (and been bitten by one), and then she caught a mole. Well, my worst fear just happened this afternoon! I came home from work and let them outside in the yard. I was just hooking up the sprinkler, and I had the water running. I heard Brandy barking and carrying on at something, but she barks at everything in the yard. I happen to look over and I saw this black snake striking at her!!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! I was SO scared! Luckily the snake didn't get her, but I was screaming at her to come to me! Finally she came and I grabbed her collar. I ran her and Danny back inside the house and dropped the hose (with sprinkler now attached). After I calmed down and checked her over to make sure she wasn't bite, I looked outside. I saw the snake slitter away towards our garage. The funny thing, I guess, is that the spinkler was aimed right at the back porch door. When I ran and screamed for my husband, he walked out to discover the inside of the back porch was flooded!

I kept telling my husband that I was afraid Brandy would try and attack (bite) a snake if she ever saw one. Then, sure enough, she proved it to me this afternoon. I want to research the internet for something that keep snakes away. We live in the country and have huge woods behind our house, but I don't want them up near the house, or where Brandy and Danny go. This is just the START of the season. This will be a L-O-N-G one for me, I can tell! I am SO afraid of snakes, yet Brandy doesn't seem to be scared! ohmy.gif

Thank you friends for letting me share this!

Dear Pamela,

I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your precious angel Moose today on this six month annivesary. If I could bring Moose back for you, I wouldn't hesitate. I would give everything I had. Unfortunately, none of us can bring our furbabies back. I just know your Moose is missing you as much as you miss him. He is up there waiting for you, though. He is healthy and feeling no pain.

I am sending you BIG warm hugs!

Love,
Cheri

Here is a poem I dedicate to you both. The author is unknown and I have changed a few words to fit. This poem touches me and I think it fits you and Moose wub.gif

High up in the courts of heaven today
A lab dog angel waits;
With the other angels he will not play,
But he sits alone at the gates.
For I know my master will come, says he,
And when she comes she will call for me.

The other angels pass him by
As they hurry towards the throne,
And he watches them with a wistful eye
As he sits at the gates alone.
But I know if I just wait patiently
That someday my master will call for me.

And his master, down on the earth below,
As she sits on the beach so bare,
Forgets sometimes, and whispers low
To the dog, who is not there.
And the lab dog angel ##s his ears,
And dreams that his master's voice he hears.

And when at last his master waits
Outside in the dark and cold,
For the hand of death to open the door,
That leads to those courts of gold,
She will hear a sound through the gathering dark,
A lab dog angel's bark.

Hello friends,

Well, can you believe it?! My little Brandy has managed to hurt herself again. Another trip to the vet! ohmy.gif

Somehow, and we have NO idea how, she has managed to break a bone in her back paw. She has been outside playing with Danny. The weather is actually beautiful here today. She came inside and I noticed that she was limping and keeping pressure off her one back paw. We checked all around the pads, assuming she must have cut herself or gotten a thorn stuck in there. Nothing. Later we noticed she started to whimper when she would lay down. At one point, she jumped up on the bed and cried in pain. When we looked again, the paw had swelled up!!! Then I felt something sticking up under the skin, what seemed to be hard like a bone. We rushed her to the vet, and sure enough it's a broken bone in her paw sad.gif

Poor little girl. She has a big splint on there that looks like it weighs more than she does. We have to keep that on her for two weeks and go back for another xray to see if it healed okay. Since she is young the vet said it should heal quickly. I just didn't have the heart to get her that big plastic "bowl" collar, but already she lays down and wants to chew on it.

This little girl is just something!!!! When we got to the vet the receptionist even laughed and said, "Hi Brandy! What did you do to yourself this time?". She is becoming well known!!!! tongue.gif

Thanks for letting me share another scarey moment in my life!

My dear friends,

I am writing this with termendous fear in my heart sad.gif
My baby puppy, Brandy, has always run around in the yard chasing squirrels and trying to catch them as they ran up a tree. Well, today she caught one. I was so scared! She had it in her mouth and I heard her squeal. I ran over and got her to release the squirrel. The squirrel then ran on up the tree. My baby was bitten by it!

She has the bite marks on the inside of the lip, over to one side. I called the vet immediately in a panic! The doctor told me to quarantine her from my other dog and keep her away from children for 10 days and, of course, watch her closely. Then after the 10 days, bring her back in for a booster shot on her rabies shot. He told me to clean the wound real good. I don't even know what to use when it is inside her mouth like that. Can I use hydrogen peroxide? Neosporine ointment? I just didn't think to ask the doctor that question. sad.gif If I had known at the time, the doctor said I should have captured the squirrel to bring it in and be tested for rabies. Then we'd know for sure!

I am SO, SO scared for her!!!! The next 10 days will be the longest of my life. Has anybody else dealt with rabies in a dog or the fear of it? I would SO greatly appreciate any advice or tips. I just feel SO bad for her!!! I know that wound has got to hurt right inside her mouth like that. One hole looks pretty big right at the inside corner of her mouth. Poor thing, she will feel that every time she opens and closes her mouth. She's only 8 months old.

Thank you!
Brandy's super scared mommy,
Cheri
