Hi everyone: I will like to share my story about my beloved puppy Bella. My husband and I adopted her at our local shelter on Nov. 22 of 2008. She was a beautiful black and brown doberman/rottweiler mix, only 4 months of age. The shelter spayed her and she was suppose to go home with another family, but they didn't show up on time and they gave it to us. We took her to the vet right away to make sure she was OK. A few days later I noticed diarrhea and discharge coming from her nose. We took her to the same vet and he said that she could have DISTEMPER ( a non-curable disease). The vet gave some antibiotics. A day later she stop eating and we took her to another vet, he gave her more antibiotics and said she might have Kennel Cough. That same night after we took her to the second vet she was very sick, not even moving. The next morning (Tuesday December 2, 2008) she was just unable to eat, drink, her poor little body was contracted, high temperature, gasping for air. I held her like a baby and knew she was dying. I call my husband at work, he took the rest of the day off. In the afternoon she was even worse and the most agonizing decision I had to make in my life was to have her put to sleep. The pain of watching her gasp for air was painful. When I was holding and crying my pain she look at me like trying to comfort me. I keep telling Bella it was OK to let go of her pain. My husband decided to take her to be euthanize. I say goodbye to her and let her know there was she was not going to be in any more pain, I thank her for the short 1 1/2 weeks that she gave us joy and I kiss her goodbye. My heart is in great pain. As I'm writing I can't stop crying thinking about her. At the end the vet that euthanized Bella confirm she had Distemper, she had no cure. I'm still crying her tragic death. Distemper kill her in 3 days. She had such as short life. I never knew loosing a pet could be so painful. Yesterday I stayed away from home, every time I will see when she was at last I will burst in tears. I'm sure she is in heaven. She always be in our heart, and will be impossible to forget her.
