like you say, it isn't possible to reverse what happened. it's difficult to figure out who to speak with, but i would ask to speak with the owner/manager of the pet store. the shelter feels that they did what they should have done. it's a sad situation either way, sorry to hear about it.

Dear Walk Alone,

I don't know where you are in your grief journey or the investigation(s) of Star's death. I simply want to offer my continued sympathy and shared frustration. You are such a loving, giving person and neither you nor your animal companions should ever have to suffer needlessly. If there is anything I can do to help (???) please call on me. I do not work and have time to "do" thinigs.

I would like to add Star's name to my little list of my Trevor's friends who get together every night to read my little love note to Trevor. Is that OK?
