Hi all...can't see the links today...stinky dialup...will have to check them out later, have seen the patches ones before I think. Dottie...I will say...you are a hoot!

Madi, I too miss having horses...that was the reason for the minis. We didn't have lots of pasture room...only 1 1/2 acres since most of our property is woods. I wanted a horse, but there was only enough room for one technically...and I didn't want to get just one...I believe horses thrive best in a herd environment, even if the herd is just 2. So, I thought 2 minis...they are horses, they will have company, plenty of room...and I can learn to drive. Somehow I ended up with 4...lol...there is a saying in the mini world..."minis are like potato chips, you can never have just one". Well that is true! I started out with just the two and about a year later got the other two. I did enjoy them, they can be quite the characters, they are loads of fun...mine made me laugh alot...they did alot of goofy things. I did find they liked to play more than full-size horses...they would not only play alot with each other but they would play with toys...large balls, etc...and sticks that would fall from the trees. You should look into it...wink.gif

I did end up putting up a little tree last night at the week-end house...it's kind of "Charlie Brown" looking but I'm glad I did it.

Talk to you all soon,
Take care,
Hugs,
Brutus' Mom

Hi Sonya, Madi and Jan. Sonya and Madi, since you miss your horses so much, I've brought you a whole lot of them as well as unicorns, one zebra and a happy bull to help Madi on her farm. They're all glitter and several are animated. I particularly love the large white horse's head surrounded by a garland of glittering butterflies. But, all of them are lovely. They are so many images that I'll just put the URL Links for you to click and pull them up. Yoo Hoo Jan. The one for you is at the very bottom. I thought you'd love it because there's a beautiful fairy lady, polar bears, harp seals and bunnies. Also, the lady is catching glistening snowflakes with her up stretched arms and hands as they fall from the Heavens. I do want to enhance a few of these and frame some others. A bunch are simply too much glitter to suit me but kids love them lots and lots! Here you go ...

QUOTE (janika @ Dec 4 2009, 02:19 PM) *
Hi Sonya

What a good idea. I think I must be the 'oldie' on here. I am ouch........ 58 years old, thats it I've told you. (I know you've all seen it on my profile , well , thats if you've looked of course).

I have been married.......... to the same man ,Dave, for 37 years. Not bad eh! I have a son aged 32 and a daughter aged 28. I also have a grandson aged 5 (well 6 at christmas) and a granddaughter aged 20 months. Daughter is expecting her third in early February, so thats giving me lots to look forward to.

I have had furry friends sharing my life right from day one as my grandparents bred Sealyham Terriers. Oh how I loved them. There's always been a doggy best friend in my life, right up to this last 3 months . I've also had feathered friends, tropical fish and goldfish. Love kitties but have never had one of my own.
I have been retired for some years now, but worked in the Travel Trade for many years and then as a Nursery School Teacher.
We live about 20 miles from London, on the edge of a beautiful country park. I was born in Yorkshire, but moved south with my parents when I was 11 years old. My parents live in Spain now (lucky things).

My loves are (hubby of course-ha), family, children and animals. I love my red wine(medicinal ) well my doc always says go home now and have a couple of glasses of red wine, so I do as I'm told. Just having a glass now, cheers!!
I would normally say I spend most of my time outdoors walking my dogs, but sadly not now.
I don't want to scare you by posting a photo - unless I can find one that doesn't look too bad. That will be quite a challenge! Also I have to work out how to post pics on here without them being so enormous. Look bad enough in small pics, ha.
Well I'm sorry I haven't anything more interesting to tell you, reading this I think I need to get out more maybe.
Hope I haven't bored you too much.
It's been lovely meeting all you fellow pet lovers on here. Thanks for all the help you've given me these last few weeks.
Love and hugs
Jan x

Dottie...I will have to check out all your links when I have high-speed...this dial up is so slow. I too love unicorns...and winged horses.

They totalled my car...shucks...I just paid it off in october. So I'm gonna start shopping for a new "used" car. We never buy brand new vehicles...except for hubby's truck...we always look for a year or two old with under 30,000 miles.

Sonya
Hubby and I went for a long walk in our local forest/country park today. We've walked our dogs there for the last 25 years. Oh what a time. I must have hugged about 10 dogs. Luckily a lot of their 'humans' know us, as we used to be a familiar sight with our Samoyeds. They were all wondering where Noushka was, so you can imagine I spent most of the time sobbing.. again, and telling them what happened.
I did feel though that our angel dogs were running along at our side, free from all the ailments of old age, and darling Tasha free from the Diabetes that robbed her of her sight.
We saw about six deer, running through . I thought of you of course. We do have a beautiful white stag that we see here now and again. He sure is a beauty.
I hope you manage to find your next car soon, what a pain having just paid for your last one.

Madi, I can just picture you avoiding all the Kanagroos. At least you both can drive ! I have my trusty bike, ha. Wouldn't stand much chance against a deer or a Roo on that.

Dotty, I hope you and Buddy and Styx Kitty are ok. Every time I look at the Angel on the top of my Tree , I think of you, but with the corset of course.
Anna, hope you are ok, haven't seen you on here today.
Thinking of you all.
Love Jan x

Oh Jan! when you said you don't have a licence, it reminded me of my mum who didn't have one either." I'm way too nervous to drive a car" she would say, so what did she do? she got a motor bike instead. Wouldn't drive a car, but would ride a motor bike, gees, go figure. She rode so slowly though it was amazing how she remained upright. She made bags for the sides of the bike and she used to have all her shopping in them and if anyone waved at her, as everyone did, she could only raise her finger in recognition because she couldn't take her hands off of the handle bars to wave back. Poor mum had a few mishaps, even at her slow speed, she had no balance whatsoever and often made too wide a turn and ended up on her side up banks and what not. One time, when she arrived home she fell off her bike in the driveway and the bike was on top of her and she said, " I can smell burning". Well the burning was her leg which was pressed up against the hot exhaust and it was so badly burnt that she had to have it dressed daily for weeks at the local hospital. Mum was a real animal lover too, dad still has her dog and cat with him. I could write a book on my mum, once while shoping for a suit for my dad in a major department store, she went up to what she thought was a dummy and started fondling this guys suit and feeling the material between her fingers. When he jumped in a startled manner, she said "oh I do beg your pardon, I thought you were a dummy". Unfortunately I have to go and my book will have to wait, I have to go shopping. Catch you all later.

Oh Madi I've only just found this posting as this topic was way down on the forum.
That really made me howl. Your dear mum sounds such a character. Would love to hear more stories.
I hope more people will post on here, now it's back to the top of the board. It's nice to know about each other. I'm still searching for a photo to compete with Dottie's. Must say , that is a difficult one.
Ha I'm just picturing your mum on her motorbike again and its making me smile, so thats soo good.
My dad also wanted to get back into his motorbiking days a few years back when he was about 70. Luckily the novelty soon wore off . Looked a proper 'Hells Angel' in his black leather gear, ha. !
Hope everyone is doing ok.

Madi...your Mum sounds like a real hoot! My grandfather got a moped when he was about 80 so he could go get milk and such from the convenience store down the road..he looked so funny with his baseball hat backward on his head, grinning ear to ear on that moped. We worried about him constantly riding that thing.

QUOTE

Jan...they were absolutely there, I'm sure of it.

I did get a new used car yesterday, it is a 2009 but still used, 20,000 miles. It's a Chevy HHR, not sure if you all ever seen those in your countries. Its kinda like a mini SUV cross stationwagon...it kinda looks like a mini herse...lol. It has tons of rooms for the dogs, which was my main concern. I like it...I didn't really want a new car but when I sat in it...I was like..."ooh, this is nice"...afterall my car was 7 years old with 130,000 miles on it. Got it for a good price and it gets good gas milege, so I am pleased with the mini herse...it is white with black pinstripe and tinted windows.

Watching one of my favorite shows right now...Two and a half men....that reminds me, I never told you about my music/tv likes:

I don't really watch much tv but my favorite show is Deadliest Catch, mythbusters, cash cab...basically anything on the Discovery, history, science channel. Lighter watching...two and a half men and american idol.

Music I listen to just about anything, but country and classic rock is my favorite. I will even listen to a little rap/hip-hop as long as it's not that violent stuff...I like the dance stuff.

Some of my fav movies are: Crash, Way of the gun, three kings, suicide kings, bad santa, 40yr old virgin...I like more of the action/suspense type or comedy, not much into love stories...same with books...I like David Baldacci, Jodi Picoult, Dean Koontz.

I hope today is finding you all happy and in peace.

Hugs,
Brutus' Mom

Hi Madi, Jan, Sonya and all. So glad you liked the images. Madi! I am laughing so hard about your Mum. Hahaha! Actually, once when I was in junior high gym class after we had finished and showered one day and were in the locker room as I took a last look at myself in the full length mirrored wall, this female student walked up to me, all around me and looked me up and down. I knew I'd been mistaken for a mannequin in the past so I just stood really still and didn't blink an eye until she touched my skin. Then I jumped and yelled, "Boo!" Scared the bageegies outta her and that's when she apologized saying she thought I was a mannequin. I couldn't stop laughing. LOL!

I really came by to tell ya'll what I really think of Christmas.

Wanna know? Okay then. Here goes ...

Oh DottI, I just love that little white kitty cat, it has the cutest squashed nose. One of my friends has a similar looking cat with the squashed nose, but it's tongue is permanently sticking out as well, so adorable. Have a good day all.

Was browsing through my photobucket account and thought you all might enjoy seeing pics of my animals from the hobby farm I had a couple years back...mini horses, mini goats, and laying hens.

Percy and Merlin playing, Percy is the pinto and Merlin the bay:

me and Percy and Merlin, this was fall, when they were getting thier winter coats:

I'll have to sort through some more pics and see if I have a couple good ones of Apollo and Zeus..also mini horses.

Goats will be next post.
