This is what I am aware of what happened on Wednesday morning: my Step-father got home from dinner around 1:30AM, fed our cat Tasha on the front porch (female) and went to sleep. Around 8:00AM, he woke up to see the door wide open with our dog, Sammy, sitting at the front door looking outside. My step-father walked out and looked around and noticed Sammy shaking as she smelled some thing. My step-father eventually found animal intestines on the lawn near the sidewalk, almost completely clean with absolutely no fur or other animal parts around. When I got home that day, my family looked around the house and the whole neighborhood and found no remains of any animal; not even blood. Mainly, no Tasha.

We still haven't seen Tasha since Wednesday, April 4th. Yesterday we setup a camera to see if our cat was coming up and eating food. We eventually got a cat on tape and realized there is another cat like Tasha, a Russian Blue, that was been frequently visiting our front porch for food.

Note that a Possum had been recently been visiting also to eat food and drink water on our porch. We have even seen Tasha and the possum calmly sitting next to each other.

I am still stumped on what happened. I feel it could have been some sick cat eater who tried to break in, only to be scared away by our dog, or maybe the possum tore up our cat in a remote area and dragged the intestines to our lawn for no reason, or possibly a bird carried and dropped the intestines from another place. Whatever happened, it must have been a very disturbing event.

We talked to neighbors on either side of our home and asked about Tasha. One neighbor says they some times see our cat in their backyard but they hadn't seem Tasha the day we asked. Our other neighbor even had a camera setup with an over view of his lawn, but from the recorded video showed no evidence of a person or animal passing by that may have had some thing to do with this.

I've owned and loved Tasha since 1999, so that would be about 13 years or so. I still can't accept that she's gone because I have taken her being for granted, and I am stilled optimistic. I do feel that once I know she is gone I may go into depression.

If any one can help with knowledge or support that would be great.

-Brian

Hi, Brian, please permit me to offer you my sincerest concerns in the missing of your precious Tasha. The circumstances you present do sound like a creature met with foul play by another creature, but since there is no other evidence to help with an identifcation it is good that you keep optimistic that your precious Tasha is still in the neighborhood. Perhaps you may consider putting up posters and contacting the local vet hospitals and shelters in your area putting them on alert just in case someone may come in with a hurt or stray cat. I know it is hard to remain optimistic the more time passes without your precious Tasha home with you. When we lose a companion we do grieve for their physical absence in our lives. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Brian, and please let us know how things go.

Peace and blessings,

Dearest Brian,

My deepest sympathy for you with the terrible disapearance of your beloved Tasha. The circumstances under which she has gone missing would not be making things any easier for you. My darling Angel cat, Mazie has been missing for 2 weeks - and I think I understand how you would be feeling right now. I was closer to my cat than many human friends - and I am feeling some terrible guilt that I didn't keep him inside unless he was supervised as this might never have happened.

I will pray that Tasha is safe and will be returned to you. I will also pray for your own wellbeing during such a difficult time.

Please feel free to write to me if you need more support or would like to share anything about your Tasha cat - anything that helps...

Leigh

I have dreamed almost every night about Tasha. In every case she returns in some way. The most recent dream I had was brutal..she came home, alive, with a huge opened gash in her underbelly and a large cut on her back. We took her to a doctor and they were able to help her, and yes, in the dream we were aware she was missing part of her intestines. I think the doctors implanted some thing to make up for this. On the way to the hospital, I was outside walking at night with my family members, and I remember thinking to myself: This is TOO REAL TO BE A DREAM. I checked myself that I wasn't dreaming. I knew where I was and what I was doing. I still didn't wake up, and continued as if it were real life. When I woke up later I could not believe my level of consciousness in dream mode. At the end of that same dream Tasha was back home and the openings were glued shut after the doctor appointment. She was still pretty sick and in bad condition, and we weren't supposed to feed her during the healing process; only give her water.

In other dreams I usually see her come to the porch, either a little sick or just OK, but happy, and I'd usually pet her and such. In one dream I was protecting her from other attacking cats in our neighborhood, but she kept running out of the house when I tried to shut the doors to keep her in. Before the indecent, she didn't like being inside because my step-father didn't allow her to be inside. We were keeping her outside because she was peeing inside, and after a while she stopped. When we started letting her in more frequently my step-father smelled "pee" again and said Tasha could not come inside again. It made me pretty pissed, as I didn't smell it myself, but as long as Tasha was happy...

Not sure if I stated this, but the last thing I did before I left to Northern California for spring break a few weeks ago, I took two pictures of my cat on the porch from the car and said goodbye to her. We left and that was the last time I ever saw Tasha.

This is also the time where I am preparing to go to college. Just before senior year ends, my cat dies, as if some thing were telling me, this is how life goes, this is what happens when you grow up. You are leaving home finally after 18 years, and after 12 years of being around your cat. Yeah, I loved that cat to death. I still can't believe it happened. Things are getting worse mentally for me.

Hi, Brian, thank you so much for sharing with us how you're doing. Ciinical studies are constantly being done on the basis of dreams. It has been a generally accepted philosophy in the clinical field that dreams are a means for us to try to reconcile events that have occurred in our lives - - in your case, the physical absence of your precious Tasha. Not knowing what happened to her conjures up all kinds of thoughts, -- and fears and hopes - - that seem to be reflected in your dreams - - that can seem very realistic. I, too, have had dreams that seemed to be so real.

I am so sorry that your precious Tasha has not yet been able to safely return home to you. Your dreams are a reflection of how much you love her and want her to be safe and happy. Hold onto this, Brian, for this is a GOOD thing, and try to find some hope in your heart that wherever she is she has your eternal love for her keeping her safe and happy.

Thank you so much for sharing your precious Tasha with us, Brian, and for sharing with us how you're doing. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and please let us know how things are going for you.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam
