Hi, I just found this sight. I wish I hadn't. We recently moved from RI to GA. We had to live temporarily in a hotel for three weeks and we took our dog Mackenzie and our cat Molly with us. Being an oudoor/indoor cat, this wasn't easy on Molly but she adjusted well. She never tried to sneak out and seemed content to be in her new surroundings. Mackenzie handled it well too considering she and the cat, were able to come & go as they pleased back home. We lived in a rural area and it was safe for them to do so.
We moved into our new home on 9/23 and Molly was timid about going out and we thought that was a good sign. We were afraid she would immediently head for the door and bolt out and we'd never see her again!!! We've heard plenty of horror stories before. Day by day she would go out a little bit at a time. To begin, it would be for like a minute, then a few minutes then a half hour then a little more. But she stayed close by the house and we were happy that she was taking it slow. We never let her out when we weren't at home. We had been living here for 11 days when Monday evening rolled around and she was in and out as usual. she had been out for a litle while and I was in and out as I smoke but don't in the house. When I went to have a smoke, she wasn't around. I called for her, my husnband called for her and nothing. We called all night long, looked as far as we could in the dark and nothing. It has now been three full days that she has been gone adn I am devestated to say the least. My heart is broken and I'm worried sick about her. I fear the worst, that she will not be back, but where is she? Is she hurt, did she want to go? Is she lost? Is she as scared as I am? Does she know she's lost and can't find her way home??Surely she must be so hungry since she hasn't eaten since Monday night. I have not felt this awful in my life. I am at a lost as to what to do. We talked to neighbors, have ssearched in the woods and along the street. We made flyers and put them on every mailbox in our area...what else can we do and when do we give up hope? When do I put away her dishes, toys, food, treats, basket and litter box? I fear if I do that then allhope is gone, but I relly fear that regardless, all hope is gone... She is the cutest 7.5 lb calico in the world and I just want my baby to come home! |

This is so very sad for you, but do not give up hope yet. I know you have done so much already. Has she become locked in somewhere? ... a neighbours garage, or outhouse or shed. Could you ask them to check? Have you checked your local pound to see if she has been picked up.
I have heard it said so many times that a lost cat is usually within a 100 yards of the house. Cats when lost don't seem to respond to being called, I have always found that you can be a few feet from them and calling and they do not respond. Sometimes you have to lift things up, and look behind them to find them. I do so hope that you are able to find her, my thoughts are so much with you with love jilly -------------------- ELLIE, my beautiful precious baby. 1st Sept 2003 - 3rd Dec 2004.
Rest peacefully my little sweetheart. |
