I told you all I wouldn't be posting any more stories about potential new family members until I knew for sure. With that in mind, meet Tootsie:

Tootsie (she's going to get a new name, I think... Tootsie just doesn't seem right for her) will be 8 weeks old when we get her next Wednesday. I just spoke to the agency who said our application looked great and barring any huge issue with it we're cleared to go get her. It's going to be about a three hour drive to get to where she is, but we don't care.

I'm horribly excited. smile.gif

My wife is taking next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off to be home with her to help her get settled into the house, and I just found out from the agency that she's about four months old, which is good... she's old enough to romp with the the girls.

We can't wait to get her home... our house has been missing so much energy and life since we lost Winston.

I just got a call from the rescue agency... we're actually going to pick her up Sunday (as in the day after tomorrow). The vet is going to give her her final exam on Sunday morning and by 2pm she'll be ready to come home. She's even coming off of Petfinder. smile.gif

This works well... we'll have her home with us for 9 days before she has to be left alone for any time at all.

And we decided to call her "Pebbles"... Tootsie just doesn't work for us. smile.gif

Expect pictures and stories to follow. smile.gif

That's great, she is so cute. Tootsie was the name of my childhood dog; she grew up with me we were always together. Good luck with her and have fun.

Minor disappointment this morning... just got an email from the agency saying that over the past few days Pebbles had begun scratching and they're concerned she has mange. They're going to test her and treat her for it (which is awesome; some places would have just let me take her and deal with the consequences) but we won't be able to take her now until September, when they get their next transport of pets from Mississippi. sad.gif

She's definitely ours, just not yet.

Oh yeah, we were a bit disappointed but when I looked up mange I found it can either be a minor problem or something that can be contagious to people and animals that requires everyone be treated and the entire house basically scrubbed down. I'm glad they're keeping her to make sure she's okay rather than just giving her to us and letting us deal with the consequences.
