Don't know how this could be comfortable but he had a good nap for quite a while like this! Probably worn out from chasing bunnies & birds as well as looking for mice, gophers, butterflies, bees, flys and anything else that moves most of the day. The cows walking along the pasture fence have gotten his attention and his eyes get pretty big.

He's lost about a pound since May because he is really active outside all day long. Going to be hard to coup him up indoors again.

Mr. Jingles at his best!! Loves to be outside and I allow that now that he has 160 acres to be free on. Closest occupied house is over 1/2 mile away and there are none for several miles in the other 3 directions. 2nd picture is when he decided to get on the old milk barn and check out what the cows were doing on the other side............. they looked mighty big so he came out of the corral & got up on the barn to sit on top & thrash his tail as he looked down on them at the watering hole! Then he had to check the wiring to be sure it was safe!

Wonder how in the world I'll keep him inside when we travel in the camper for over 30 days beginning early September? I do have a "walking jacket" and leash as well as a couple of different containers but he is not going to be happy........... last year he was not outside much except on a leash so he was easy to deal with. He's older and gotten sooooooooo independant he will be a handful.

We both feel so blessed to have him as well as WeeBee. Flossie is still our girl and we do miss her a lot. It would be mighty lonesome without these two to fill our days and our hearts. Sometimes I think it takes both of them to fill the hole in my heart that she left behind. And there are still days that even that does not do it!

OMG- that cat is beautiful!!!! My Nutmeg had a touch of siamese in her. I have always thought siamese and russian blue's were so good looking, I remember as a child we had a siamese that looked just like Mr. Jingles but she was a smaller female version. That cat is built like a racehorse, haha! Love all your pictures.

Thanks for the compliment on Mr. Jingles...............

Racehorse. How ironic as that is exactly what he sounds like when he decides to run down the hill, across the yard or the livingroom! Our dog weighs 17lb and runs quieter than he does. She can't catch him outside when he decides to get away from her either!

I have read about your Nutmeg..... what a beautiful cat and story as well as the name. We took in a stray several years ago and she graced us with 2 Siamese kittens. We kept one and I lost him within a couple of years. We think he must have gotten hit by a car as he couldn't hold his tail up and lost control of his bowels. No sign of any injury but back then the only answer for him was to put him to sleep.

I wanted this cat to stay inside but he has other ideas. On the farm (160 acres) I let him out..... and worry about hawks & coyotes but he is pretty wise about staying out of the open areas. Walks along the tree line and buildings. He adjusts when we are in the travel trailer to staying inside although it takes him a few days and he still puts in a pitch for outside time every morning! He is the best hunter I have ever had which upsets me sometimes because we'd like to keep the bunnies in the shelter belt. I think there are plenty but he has surely thinned them out. The mice & moles he is welcome to!

Although I had convinced myself I did not want another pet I dearly love this cat. I know you had Nutmeg a long time and it is heartbreaking to let them go but I bet there is room for another one in your life someday. It's been a year the 30th of this month since I had to let Flossie go and I still cry sometimes. There is no replacing her and I am not trying to but this guy (and our dog) both needed a home so we made a place for both of them in our hearts. I guess since Flossie left such a big hole, there was room for two.............

This grief journey is long and hard but you will find much comfort here.......................

Flossie's mom....That cat needs to be on the big screen! Sorry to hear about the other kitten and of course, Flossie. I know what it's like trying to keep a cat indoors when all they want to do is go out. I managed to keep Nutmeg inside until I got her fixed (6 mo.)- then forget it she became an indoor/outdoor kitty and every time I moved I would start all over trying to keep her in exclusively but I always caved thinking she would die if she was forbidden from the fresh air. I guess you have to find the right temperament cat to make them an "indoor kitty" and that would not be a siamese or part there of.

We just about made it to 19 years and it was a wonderfully long journey, I think about her so much everyday and when I concentrate on work and forget about her for a minute I get angry thinking how could I forget about her for a few minutes so easily...? I am happy to report that I think a lot more of our good times and not that awful trip to the vet.

Thanks for looking and enjoying Mr. Jingles.

I told my hubby a couple of days ago that I bet everyone thinks they have the best pet that ever lived just like we do. But we know better!!!!!!!! Ours are absolutely the best.

You are both right... Ken, he sure does have a lot of personality. Nutmegs Mom.... yep, a Siamese is not the right personality to try to keep him inside. At least not out here in the wide open spaces. But we have death & distruction all over the yard from his hunting skills. I saw him almost catch a low flying bird one day and could not believe my eyes!! There are at least 3 dead birds in the yard along with many, many mice. It's become a full time job policing the area. I've never had a cat that was the hunter that he has become. That should come to a hault soon when the snow & cold hit full force. Summers he loves to stalk the butterflies and grasshoppers.

A couple of pictures that show how nosey he is about everything........ had to try out the large candy dish given to us as a housewarming gift.

Jingles is 2 years old today!

Well, at least we have assigned him today as his birthday...... Flossie was born on this day and we got him June 1st 2008. The vet was able to neuter him on June 15th so we guessed he was about 12 weeks at that time.

TOO MUCH INFORMATION

Anyhow, we are so happy to have him in our family and he brings us much joy.

happy late birthday mr jingles smile.gif i know you had a wonderful day. hi flossies mom, im back. im so sorry i just "left". i, like so many of us, fell into a very severe depression over fred and all my lost babies. its been a hard road but i think that im at a place where i am stronger. i miss my fred every day. i cant explain it, but theres not one day where i dont think of my little ones. i found myself feeling and reliving his passing every time i read a sad posting. i lost sight of what my purpose was which was to give "comforting hugs" to everyone who walks thru this painful site. but im back. my lucy is doing so well, went thru another scare recently (heart murmur) but i took her to a dog cardiologist (who knew?) and he gave me great news: shes fine! of course this time i was crying happy tears. and the most wonderful news of all (i will do a seperate posting to introduce) but a new little dog has adopted me and cuddled her way into my heart. her name is ethel mae potter mertz and she is just the little lite of my life. she and lucy drive me up the wall but make me smile a whole lot. they both work hard at helping momma recover from freds loss. i dont know that that will ever happen completely but im so glad i have them in my life.
thank you from the bottom of my heart for checking in on me and i know this time i wont ever be away for very long...
patricia

big hugs to mr jingles from lucy and ethel. happy birthday little man!
